The Ballad of Paddy O’Shea

Listen now to "The Ballad of Paddy O'Shea"

The Ballad of Paddy O’Shea is the true tragic Irish American love story of Patrick O’Shea and Carolyn Everett. Patrick O’Shea was a railroad conductor by trade but a poet at heart. He died in a car accident at 24 years old and left behind a wife, two young sons, and a suitcase full of poetry, which years later inspired his son Patrick Jr. to publish a father/son poetry book called Conversations We Never Had. This poetry book became the basis for the Shades of Green album of the same title.

This song is the backstory to the book and the album. Shades of Green has poured their souls into this song, from the emotion packed vocals of Scot and Coleen, to Eric’s melodic bass playing, to the flowing guitar parts tastefully executed by Scot and Jim, a powerful percussive ending by Pat, and the icing on the cake, a flawless performance by our guest String quartet!

When the song writing genius of Scot Silver merges with the heartfelt poetry of Pat O’Shea great things are bound to happen!
